This is where we will document our travels around Europe in our motorhome. But first some background information on where you can stop with a motorhome:
- France Passion
- This is a system where local producers allow you to park on their property free of charge. They may be farmers, wine producers, cheese makers, other artisan products or just people who don't mind some spare land being put to use. You are limited to just a single night and must be self-contained i.e. there are no services available to you. Some even offer an evening meal. Of course, they will be interested in showing you their produce but there is no requirement to buy. We have bought a subscription for a year costing 30€. There is a similar system in the UK called BritStops (that are frequently pub car parks!).
- Aire, Sosta or Stellplatz
- These are facilities provided by the local commune or council to attract motorhomes/Campervans to the area. They vary in what services are provided from nothing (i.e. parking only) to electricity, waste water disposal, cassette toilet emptying and fresh water to take on-board. Sometimes, there is a fee to park, and you always pay for the electricity.
- Campsite
- Commercial places that offer everything from laundry facilities to swimming pools and barbecue areas to service areas.
